Strengthening Safety Partnerships: Visit from Universiti Malaya's Occupational Safety & Health and Environment Centre (OSHEC) to NTU
On November 12, 2024, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) had the honor of hosting a delegation from Universiti Malaya's Occupational Safety & Health and Environment Centre (OSHEC). This visit underscored the shared commitment to enhancing safety, health, and environmental practices in academic and professional settings.
The delegation comprised six esteemed members:

- Mdm. Nurul Hanies Ahmad, Administrative Assistant, Director Office
- Mdm. Norshazmira Mat Azmi, Head of Section, Engineer, Occupational Safety Section
- Mr. Abdul Aziz Ismail, Head of Section, Science Officer, Health and Environment Section
- Ms. Wan Nur Afifah Inani Wan Kamaruddin, Science Officer, OSH Management Section
- Mdm. Junaimah Jasman, Science Officer, Health and Environment Section
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Saravanan Gunaratnam, Director of the Office of Health and Safety at NTU. Recognizing the delegates' shared interest in sports safety, NTU also invited Professor Swarup Mukherjee, Associate Professor in Physical Education & Sports Science, to join the discussions and contribute valuable insights.
During the visit, Ms. Christina Rozario from NTU's Office of Health and Safety provided an engaging presentation showcasing NTU's robust safety and health initiatives. Key areas of interest covered included:
- Incident Reporting System
- Laboratory Safety & Health Programmes
- Occupational Health Programmes
- Contractor Management
- Internal Safety & Health Audits
- Emergency Preparedness & Response
An interactive session followed, where Professor Swarup elaborated on NTU’s efforts in promoting sports safety, further enriching the delegates’ knowledge and fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas.
The visit strengthened NTU's cross-border relationships, fostering collaborations with leaders driving occupational safety and health in diverse environments. This opened new pathways for global discussions, reaffirming NTU's commitment to advancing safety and health standards worldwide.
