Asian Conference on Safety & Education in Laboratory (ACSEL) Conference 2024

The 11th ACSEL Conference was successfully held on 28–29 November 2024 at the Centennial Hall, Kyushu University School of Medicine, Fukuoka, Japan. This prestigious event brought together Safety and Health professionals from IHLs across Asia to discuss critical topics in safety and health within higher education. Key themes included Hydrogen Energy Safety, Emergency and Disaster Management, Artificial Intelligence in Laboratory Inspections, Safety and Health Management Systems, and more.

NTU was represented by Mr Saravanan s/o Gunaratnam, Mr Edward Pariwono, and Ms Jenny Liu Xiaoqian.

  • Mr Saravanan delivered a presentation in the Technical Special Session entitled “Sustainable Risk Management in Laboratories: Strategies, Frameworks, and Methods.” He also had the honour of delivering the conference's closing speech, during which he announced that the 2025 ACSEL Conference would be hosted in Singapore.
  • Mr Edward Pariwono spoke on “Safety & Health Management Systems and Performance Awards in NTU: A Step Towards Sustainable Safety & Health Culture,” offering insights into NTU's audit and award program.
  • Ms Jenny Liu Xiaoqian was presented the Silver Award in the Poster Competition for her poster entitled “NTU Hazard Notice System (HNS): Safety and Health Excellence at Your Doorstep.”

The conference provided a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and showcasing NTU's advancements in safety and health management in higher education.
