Welcome - Jon Wilson Dean

We are excited to welcome our new Dean, Professor Jon Wilson, to the CoHASS family.

Prof Jon Wilson will assume the role of Dean of the NTU College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences on 1 July 2025.

Prof Jon Wilson is Professor of Modern History and Head of the History Department at King’s College London. A distinguished historian of Asia and the post-colonial world, he has held leadership roles at King’s for 16 years, including as Vice-Dean (Education) and Deputy Head (External Relations).

Prof Wilson has deep expertise in Asia, reflected in his award-shortlisted book India Conquered (2016) and upcoming work Out of Chaos (2026). He played a pivotal role in establishing King’s India Institute and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

Educated at Oxford (BA, DPhil) and The New School for Social Research (MA), he began his career at King’s in 1999 and has experience in policy and local government.

Prof Wilson will start as Dean-Designate from 5 June 2025, before assuming the role of Dean on 1 July 2025.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Professor Joseph Liow for his outstanding leadership of CoHASS since 2018. Under his stewardship, the College has flourished into a globally recognized hub of excellence.
